Down the West Side Highway

I don't really know how it started, I guess it was Rich who lit Jeremy's fire. We were in New Hampshire visiting our dear friend Rich and we had brought our bikes up with us. Rich took us for a ride and then later in the day took Jeremy on an intense off road mountain biking adventure. I think that did it. Jeremy was hooked. When Jeremy got home he put his weight loss on the fast track and lost 40lbs. He bought himself a sweet road bike, petals, clip shoes, glasses, helmet, shorts, jersey, gloves, etc. He started out biking with me, 16 or so miles down the West Side Highway bike path. Mind you, this is only 3 or 4 weeks ago. It was my first time too, I was shocked when we got home and jeremy told me that I had ridden 15 miles. Since then, I have pushed myself to go further down the West Side on my Trek Hybrid, maybe a mile or two further, while Jeremy has pushed himself harder and further, capping out at 30 miles last Sunday. Some mornings he wakes up at 6am to bike 10 miles before work, climbing steep hills and trying to beat his current fastest speed of 20 miles per hour. Right now, I am not able to do the same rides as Jeremy because I do not own a road bike, but I am planning that by next October I will not only own a great racing bike, but I will also be ready to participate in the October NYC Race. Cycling is a great sport, although expensive, it is an amazing excuse to get outside.

Almost a Teacher

On November 17th I am taking the Elementary Praxis Exam as a means to an end... the end being my NJ Teaching Certification. I am going for three certifications,
Elementary Education K-5
Art K-12
Students with Disabilities
I am hoping that obtaining all three will give me an edge during my job search. As soon as I pass the Praxis I will be elegible for hire through the Alternate Route Program that I am taking at Bergen Community College which is being offered through The New Jersey City College.
Ahhhhh, I am almost there. I am still having difficulty grasping the idea that in a few months I will be leaving my bookkeeping job and starting in a school. My 7 year old dream is almost fulfilled.

Switch from MySpace to BlogSpot

Today I decided to move all my blogs that I have posted on MySpace to here. I am creating this blog because I think I am outgrowing MySpace. I have outgrown almost all of my MySpace friends and the people I really want to talk to do not have accounts there. I also feel that my posts are not reaching the right people... I don't know, overall I am just unsatisfied with MySpace and I needed a change. So, here is my change.

Wedding Plans

Sigh. Ugh. Planning a wedding is not as much fun as I thought it would be, but I feel like I am moving at a good rate. We have our venue, date and photographer. We were suppose to meet with a caterer, but I had to cancel and rescheduling is impossible due to the fact that they are blatetly blowing me off. Now I have to search for another caterer to interview. Anyway, we have the centerpieces, my shoes, dress, veil and shall. I have my invitations picked out, but not ordered and I know where I am getting my flowers. What is left to do? Well, a caterer, music, the slideshow and video for the screen, favors, transportation and honeymoon planning. Oh, and we need to buy the wine for the bar. I guess that's it. The invite list keeps getting longer and longer, it's now over 100 people, so I will have to start cutting people out, boo. That's all. That's the update.

Wedding Date

Okay, so we have a wedding date and a venue. So much has changed since we were engaged only 3 months ago. Originally we wanted to get wed in Wellfleet, MA because that is where he proposed to me, and then we thought it would be too far for our NY friends to travel, so we moved it down the coast a bit to Mystic CT, too expensive. So then we started thinking about renting a house in the Hudson Valley and everything was going fine, that was the plan until we starting thinking that it may be too hectic for me since I will be getting my teaching certification at the exact same time as the wedding. Lets look at The Carriage House in Englewood. Oh yeah, that place is beautiful... So last night we went to look at it and I am sick of twiddling my thumbs so I book the place and get a date. Here it is.... September 20, 2008 at The Carriage House in Englewood, it is georgeous, if you don't believe me, go to their site; www.wcecarriagehouse.com

The White Stripes

Ahhh. Jack and Meg.... so hot together. For my birthday my wonderful fiance gave me tickets to see The White Stripes at Madison Square Garden. Yay, I was so excited. We went to the show on Tuesday and it was so fucking awesome. Jack is hot. Meg is hot. Together they are fucking hot. I had such a great time, it was awesome. The last time I saw them I was living in California and I went to see them at the Hollywood Bowl, that show was awesome too, but I think this one was better cause Jeremy was there, and of course because we walked down front for the encore so I could see Jack and Meg perfectly clear.... one thing.... Jack needs to stop telling people that Meg is his sister. Ewwwh, they had sex. I mean not ewwwh, hot, but if she really was his sister that would be ewwh, so he needs to stop saying it. That's all :)

In 4 Days...

In four days I sign my life over to some mortgage institution that I have never been to. I will be sending them monthly checks until I am 55. If anything happens they will have every right to take my dweling space away. it's kinda scarry. But the joy, anticipation and excitement of finally not thinking that I am going to move in a year overwhelms the fear. Finally I will have a place to call home, finally I will not have to struggle when asked, "mam, please verify for me, what address did you open this account with?". Uggh. And that customer service rep will not have to listen to me run off a list of 5 addresses. There is tons of work ahead of me, just packing this apartment is exhausting and to think that 8 months ago I did the same exact thing in Jersey City. I'm done. No more moving.
