Another felt project.... cookies. I am almost done with the cookies that I am making for Isabelle's birthday. There are snickerdoodle with pink icing and sprinkles, snickerdoodle with chocolate icing and sprinkes, chocolate chip and chocolate striped. I also made her a personalized cookie jar. :)

Hello my name is . . . and I am addicted to Rock Band

First off, I am not a video game kind of girl. I also cannot sing or play and instrument. So, I am imagining that people are perplexed as to how I could be so addicted to the video game, Rock Band for X-Box 360. Honestly, I don't know myself. We didn't even own this game until yesterday, after a long and painful day at work, I came home to find Jeremy rocking out in our living room, music blasting, guitar in hand as he belted out the lyrics to Radiohead's Creep. I knew immediately that this is what he had spent all day doing. I immediately joined in. Later that night, I sat glued to my TV mastering songs like Maps by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Celebrity by Hole. I didn't move from 9:30pm to Midnight. I dragged myself to bed, tossing and turning all night, just waiting for the morning. At 7am my alarm went off and I was up and downstairs warming up the X-Box, I dragged Jeremy out of bed too, because how good is a band if there isn't a guitar player. I have to admit, we contemplated staying home all day and practicing for our upcoming tour, but instead we dragged ourselves to work like the mature adults we are. Tonight we will be at it again, and pretty soon we will make the important decision of a band name. Right now it is between The Dick Bag Kids or the Hospital Bombers . . . to be continued

Isabelle's Pizza

While browsing the internet (one of my hobbies) I stumbled upon the great idea of making play food out of felt. First, I must mention that lately I have been on an unusual creative spree... making curtains, knitting, attempting to crochet, and now... felt food. I immediately realized that I needed a reason to make this play food and I thought of my soon to be niece, Isabelle. Her birthday is coming up and I thought this would be awesome. I had already made a shopping list in my head of all the great stuff I was going to make before I e-mailed Leah (Isabelle's mommy) to make sure this is something she would enjoy, a hamburger, pizza, salad, bag of chips, eggs with bacon, maybe pancakes, and of course cookies... a lot of cookies. I never thought what I would have done if Leah said, "She already has a ton" or "absolutely not, she has a felt phobia" (which would not be odd to me since I despise the feeling of cotton balls so if someone offered to make me play food out of cotton balls I would answer "No way.") Regardless, she said that Isabelle would love it and that was that. I hit the craft store that day after work. Above you can see my pizza that I just finished today. It was Jeremy's idea to get a mini pizza box and personalize it for her. The pizza includes a crust, tomato sauce, fresh buffalo mozzarella slices, pepperoni and mushrooms. Originally I wasn't going to make all the pieces separate but I think Isabelle will enjoy her pizza more if she is able to customize it depending on her mood. Jeremy helped me a lot with the toppings and methods for constructing each piece. Next, I am going to finish the cookies I started the other day, keep posted for more.

Meet Izzy

Jeremy's job has been murder lately. He is so busy he doesn't even have time to sleep (no joking). He needed someone who knows what he is going through. Someone who knows what a shit life is. Enter Izzy, she is a chain smoker and has been dead for about 2 years now. She is just the person Jeremy needs to help him get through this tough opening season. Oh, and did I mention, she is also my very first felt friend... I think felt is becoming my new obsession.

Her backside: you can't see it here, but she has two hearts on her butt, a pink heart being overlapped by a smaller green heart.

P.S. The cigarettes are an add on, they are safety pinned on, in case she ever decides to quit.

Bag Lady

Here are some bags that I find particularly inspiring. I have decided to make a small clutch out of a sort of burnt umber color yarn. I am a beginner when it comes to knitting and a beginner with crochet too... I have yet to decide which I like better.

It's Hip to Knit

We are starting a knitting circle in my office at lunch. I never thought that I would be so excited about being part of a knitting circle. Finally I may finish that scarf that I started over two years ago. Next, I want to make this bag...
