It's Wedding Invitation Time!

Today I took on the scary task of wording and printing the invitations. I had purchased the Chocolate Pocket Invite Kit by Brides Magazine. It is a diy wedding invite kit and to my surprise was very easy to do. I have all my invitations and rsvp cards printed and now I am almost ready to start mailing. The wedding countdown is at 70 days, oooh. Things are getting exciting!

My Conversion & First Mogen David

Last Monday, May 4, 2009 was the date for my conversion into Judaism. I was very eager and nervous walking into the Mikvah and sitting down before 3 Rabbis armed with questions about my life, past religious experiences, plans for my future, family and of course, my deepest most questions about Judaism. All these questions are meant to help the Rabbis determine whether or not someone is genuine in their desire to convert. Happily, I proved to be genuine and was accepted into the Jewish Faith.
And today, Sunday May 10, I received my first Mogen David from my sweet fiance.

Wedding Cake/Cupcake Update

As I have previously stated I would like to have cupcakes instead of cake at my wedding. After searching and searching for months for the cupcake tree that would be perfect, I found these beautiful cupcakes by Pink Cake Box. I am going to use this photograph as my example when I talk to bakeries. The only changes I would make are, cranberry/maroon colored hearts on top of the green hearts instead of pink and possibly use a monogrammed C as the cake topper instead of the bride and groom, which is cute, but could cause a significant cost increase to the entire project.

Oh Vey!

As of 10:30 am I am officially part of the Jewish Faith. I am delighted to be part of the Jewish community. Judaism emphasizes life as it is lived on earth, rather than the afterlife, importance is placed on working to repair the world; to struggle against injustice, to make life better for all, especially the poor and oppressed. It's one reason why so many Jews are active in causes that support freedom, justice and well-being for all peoples. It is part of the fabric of being Jewish, a fabric I wish to be part of. I can see myself growing with Judaism and nurturing a Jewish family. A family built on community, compassion, honesty, tradition, and a strong value system.
